F1 Tech Updates for Dutch GP 2024

Published on 2024-08-24

The Dutch Grand Prix marks the return of Formula 1 after a much-needed mid-season break. As the teams gear up for the second half of the season, McLaren and Williams have brought the most upgrades to their cars.

McLaren's Major Overhaul

McLaren has made a substantial commitment to improving their performance. The team has introduced a new front brake scoop, front suspension, floor edge, and rear suspension. These updates are designed to enhance overall efficiency and speed. Additionally, a new rear wing and beam wing specifically tailored for Zandvoort's circuit will further optimize their performance.

Williams' Significant Upgrade

Williams has also made significant strides with their first major upgrade of the season. The team has implemented a new floor that incorporates all aspects of the floor body, edges, and fences. A subtly updated diffuser complements these changes, and new sidepod inlets have unlocked performance improvements throughout the car. The engine cover and central air intake have also been adapted to match the new sidepods, with a primary focus on weight reduction.

Other Notable Upgrades

Alpine has introduced a new front suspension to improve airflow to the rear of the car and a rear brake duct update for a more efficient balance of downforce and drag. Red Bull has a smaller rear brake duct and revised winglets. Haas has brought a new front wing and nose to redistribute the aerodynamic load and achieve a clearer central flow, necessitating adjustments to the front suspension and front corner deflectors.

Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Stake Maintain Status Quo

While several teams have made significant upgrades, Ferrari, Mercedes, Aston Martin, and Stake have opted to maintain their current setups without introducing any new parts to the FIA.
